“What if everyone could plant a tree from seed and start their own Legacy?”
That’s the question that launched Tree In A Box in 1991 after attempts at planting greenhouse trees at 8,000 foot elevation in New Mexico were less than successful. Founders Art and Kris Akins correctly reasoned that trees started from seed in the environment they would actually be growing in, would acclimate and thrive.
These trees were like puppies or kittens to us, they were our little babies, grown in our own home. We became attached to them and wanted to spread the joy of this experience to everyone.”
Since then we have sold over 2 million tree kits. Besides retail stores, our kits have been used for company promotions, educational programs, wedding and party favors, gifts to newborns, stocking stuffers, green and environmentally friendly gifts, etc.
We are passionate about trees and we believe in the ancient tradition of planting a tree to mark any special occasion. We also contribute a portion of our profits to dedicated tree planting and conservation groups.
