Happy International Plant Appreciation Day

April is full of great ways to celebrate our earth and do good things for our environment. On April 13^th, we invite everyone to celebrate International Plant Appreciation day with us by planting a tree.

International Plant Appreciation Day is a celebration of the numerous benefits of plants outside, in our homes, and at our places of work.

The benefits of plants are numerous and include:

• Provides the air that we breath as they change the carbon dioxide in the air into oxygen
• Provides food and drink (i.e. tea, basil, cinnamon, cayenne, garlic, lemon)
• Increases humidity
• Provides shade and break the wind
• Helps lower noise levels
• Proven to increase worker productivity and attendance
• Improves the look of your property (inside and out)
• Some plants can even remove toxins from indoor air
• Color Therapy: along with blue, green is the best color for creating a calm atmosphere.

How can you celebrate International Plant Appreciation day or any one of the other earth related days to come this year?

• 1.Give live plants as gifts instead of cut flowers: Cut flowers fade away, while a live plant brings long-lasting pleasure.
• 2.Plant a tree for every year you've lived on the planet
• 3.Grow a live Christmas tree: then transplant it in your yard or garden
• 4.Grow your own fruits and vegetables to give away
• 5.Discover the miracle of starting seedlings... : Growing your own seedlings is one of the most rewarding things you can do.
• 6.Share seeds, plants, and clippings from your garden
• 7.Help a friend grow a garden indoors or outdoors
• 8.Commune with Nature: Go for a walk in the woods, smell the flowers or hug a tree!
• 9.Compost your kitchen scraps: Give your veggie and fruit trimmings a second life, through composting.
• 10.Teach kids how to garden: a fun way to teach them about math, biology, science, responsibility and respect for their environment.
